Objectives for Forming UNM Resilience Institute

The formation of a UNM Resilience Institute aims at elevating the visibility, reputation, and status of UNM’s research on resilience. We look at the resilience as an opportunity to coordinate participation in large, multi-institution research grants. UNM Resilience Institute will provide a vehicle for participation in these larger research opportunities. Moreover, UNM Resilience Institute will perform a service for the state, and potentially attract funding, by working with industry in the state or with the New Mexico Economic Development Department, to help identify technologies that will improve community resilience and provide knowledge on methods to improve infrastructure resilience.
